El Cotillo
El Cotillo, is located on the northwest coast, this fishing village has some of the prettiest beaches in the north and two hardours, the old and the new.To the left is the long magnificent sandy beach so loved by the surfers, and to the right is the endless stretch of sandy coves and lagoons. The little fortress " El Fortaleza del Toston" built in 1797 to warn of pirate attacks stands above the new harbour and now holds exhibitions for local artist. Past the lagoons is El Cotillo lighthouse which is going to be opened as a museum. El Cotillo is one of the best places to watch fantastic sunsets.
